Courts and regulators (quite rightly) take an extremely dim view of solicitors who fail to tell the truth or conceal matters. - See this post and this one. This is because as the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) says: the public should be able to trust a solicitor "to the ends of the earth" (see here).
